The Esau Award
While I am not a theologian, my interpretation of the story of Esau and Jacob is a story of an upset victory where the defeated lost on account of getting robbed rather than a great underdog story. As the eldest son of Isaac, Esau was in line to receive the blessing that the eldest son was granted by birth right but rather, in a tactical move, Jacob fooled Isaac and received the blessing that was meant for Esau while Esau's back was turned. With the blessing, Jacob (later re-named Israel) went on to found the Jewish state that we know today while Esau, several millenia later, gets a Ryan Award named after him for those who got robbed out of some thing that was surely theirs and that they deserved. The nominees for the 2008 Esau Award are:
Gregory Baron, Skills Trainer
Calley Ekberg, former Proctor Case Manager
Bobby Martin, BRS Case Manager
